Satin Sheets in Liverpool
Walking down a dark and empty corridor,
I listen to every creak, click, and breath.
Looking forward, pretending no one is there.
I stop at the door, and turn on the lights,
Making sure my room is empty.
Turn them off, I scurry to the bed.
Jump into the covers,
I cover myself up and over my head.
Trying not to breathe too heavily,
Trying not to beat my heart too loudly,
Trying to fall asleep.
I close my eyes.
My covers are pulled!
A comedian stands at my bed,
Stabbing me in the chest.
I wake up the next morning,
But I’m not there.
