Lost and Found
As I walked through the park, I heard someone crying.
I stopped by the cave and saw the bear with his head in his hands.
“What is the matter?” I asked with caution.
He looked up at me, drunk as a skunk.
“My wife was shot.” He replied.
Enemies we were, but not today.
I’d comfort him and be a good friend.
He invited me in.
Making some tea,
He asked, “Sugar?”
“Honey.” I replied with a wink and a smile.
He smiled back, looking less miserable.
-”Have you called the police?”
“Do they know who it was?” I was curious.
-”They couldn’t find her killer, he went missing.” He said with discontent but with a hint of a smirk.
“You know, life wasn’t always like this,” he continued.
-”What do you mean?”
-”I have a PhD in quantum mechanics.”
-”So why do you live in a park?”
-”No one’s going to hire a bear, so we moved out here.”
-”Thanks for the tea, but I must leave.”
-”Was is something I said?”
-”No, it’s something I did.”
-”What do you mean?”
-”I slept with your wife, I really must go.”
-”Wait.” Pause. “I know, you should come back and meet your daughter.”
-”What?”
I broke into tears.
