The Battle of Vorochta

On my knees, I stare at my saber,

Forever stained with the blood of my enemies.

With the blade of another at my throat,

I wait here, patiently.

“Surrender, Cossack!” They demand.

I look up to the heavens, searching for an answer.

This is the end. I thought, My life ends today, regardless.

I agree to surrender. The papers are drawn.

As I am about to sign, I grab my sword.

I am shot in the back.

One last victory.

I force my blade into the commander’s chest.

More shots and I fall to the ground.
